Build a mock exam that behaves like the real one: chapters, level, a timer and a mark out of 20, in four steps.

A mock exam is more than a long quiz: it has the chapters of the real exam, a mix of question formats, a clock, and a mark at the end. You can build one from your lecture notes in an evening. A Diaposi mock exam does it from up to 6 of your own files, lets you choose the chapters and the level, and grades the paper out of 20.

What does a mock exam add to a quiz?

A quiz checks one chapter. A mock exam rehearses the whole sitting: several chapters, more than one question format, a time limit and a mark at the end. That is why it tells you more. You find out what you know, and also whether you can find it under pressure and finish in time.

How do you build one from your notes?

  1. Pick the chapters. Use the exam’s own scope. Leave nothing out because you dislike it.
  2. Choose the level. Recall for definitions, application for worked cases, reasoning for “explain why” questions.
  3. Mix the formats. Multiple choice for coverage, written answers for depth.
  4. Set the timer. The real exam’s length, or the same minutes per mark.

How do you sit it and mark it?

Alone, notes closed, in one go. Mark it the same day, while you remember why you answered as you did. Then sort your mistakes by chapter: three errors in one chapter matter more than three scattered ones.

Build a new version a few days later instead of repeating the same paper, or you will be testing your memory of the answers. The guide to making a practice test from your notes covers the schedule, and what a mock exam is and how to use one covers the review.

How a Diaposi mock exam helps

A Diaposi mock exam is built from up to 6 of your own files. Diaposi finds the chapters in your documents, with their pages, you choose which ones the exam covers and at what level, and you sit it against the clock. The result is a grade out of 20, and each correction tells you the document, the chapter and the page where the answer is.

Frequently asked questions

How long should a mock exam be?

As long as the real exam, when you can. If you only have an hour, keep the same minutes per mark and cover fewer chapters: timing is part of what a mock exam trains.

Should I repeat the same mock exam?

Not straight away. A repeated paper tests whether you remember its answers. Sit a new version on the same chapters instead, and return to the first one a few weeks later.

Is Diaposi free?

Yes. Diaposi is free, and there is no paid plan today.
